History And Politics Of Indonesia
The
major events that influence Indonesia’s society are divided in many
groups. They are basic of class, wealth,
religion, and ethnicity. There used to be a lot of wars going on in Indonesia. The
last war ended in Indonesia in 2005 so there are no wars currently going on
there. Indonesia was a colony of Dutch but later Indonesia became independent
on August 17th, 1945. Indonesia had to cope with the constant risk
of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods, and tsunami. Extreme wet or dry
seasons can ruin food crop harvest, trigger inflation and put severe financial
pressure on the poorer segments of the Indonesian population.
Indonesia
has a president and he is elected by a group of people in the legislature. He
can be a president only for 2-4 years. The justice system in Indonesia are
comprised the Supreme Court of Indonesia and the Constitutional Court of
Indonesia together with public courts, religious courts, administrative courts,
and military courts. Indonesia is democratic and the voting age in Indonesia is
17 but anyone who has an ID card can vote. Human rights are not respected in
Indonesia. Even though, there are human rights. People choose to ignore it and
treat others very badly.
